Alice's Story

Text size

Alice June Hauske, 84, of Traverse City, passed away Monday, Aug. 21, 2017 at Munson Medical Center.
Alice was born June 10, 1933 in Durand, the daughter of Louis N. Roussin and Hazel Joyce King. On July 15, 1995 in Northport, she married Robert Casimer Hauske, who survives.
After high school Alice studied nursing at the Sparrow Hospital School of Nursing. After graduating she married Keith Brown. They raised their six children in Omena while running the Harbor Bar. Alice then moved to Northport and worked as a full time nurse for many years at the Leelanau Memorial Hospital. She then moved to Sarasota, Florida, where she would continue her nursing career for the next 20 years. Alice then returned to Michigan to be near family and grandchildren. She returned to LMH to continue her love for nursing. She married Bob in 1995. After Alice retired from LMH, she gave her time to caring for the elderly in the community through foot care clinics, which she would continue to do for the rest of her days.
Alice enjoyed going to garage sales, cooking, baking and swimming. Her greatest joys in life were serving and worshipping Jesus, being with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all people. She loved any chance she had to meet new people and always knew how to connect a new person to someone that was already a part of her life. Alice understood the importance of family and heritage and has passed that on to those she knew and loved so dearly.
Alice is survived by her husband, Robert; her children, Bradley K. Brown, Douglas A. Brown (Cathy), Korinne M. Wheeler (Robert), Camille K. Gable (Tod), Joshua N. Brown and Naomi C. Williams (Doug); her stepchildren, Ryan Stelmachowske (Kathy), Robert Hauske, Roberta Tibone (Darrell) and Bonnie Beckman (Greg); her siblings, Aurthur J. Roussin; her grandchildren, Julie Brown, Stephen Brown, Ashley Brizard, Whitney Trump, Rachel Smith, Melanie Wheeler, Justin Gable, Alyson Gable, Lauren Gable, Nathan Gable, Brooke Williams and JJ Brown; her step grandchildren, Sarah English (James), Pat Beckman, Sheryl Beckman, DJ Tibone, Tracy Bironas, Evan Hiles, Jared Hiles, Jacob Stelmachowske and Seth Stelmachowske; her great-grandchildren, Kyle Brown, Samantha Brown, Adelaide Trump and Carter Smith; and her step great-grandchildren, Jayden English, Isabella English, Isaac English, Morgan English, Lauren Kendall, Kaylen Bradshaw, Tessa Tibone, Ariana Tibone, Lena Bironas, Lainey Bironas, Cohen Bironas, Emery Hiles and Elliot Hiles.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Ray Roussin; and her sister, Rita Gippert-Knopf.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 25, with the family greeting friends at noon, at the West Bay Covenant Church in Traverse City. The Rev. Kent Anderson will officiate.
