Anita's Story

Text size

Anita "Dolly" Robertson Sheren was born April 30, 1923 in Grant Township, to Anna Marie Svec Robertson and Roland Robertson. Anita married Arthur "Skite" Sheren on Aug. 22, 1946. Together they had two sons, David and Brian.
Anita grew up on a farm with her sister, Frances. She walked daily to a one room school house called Canada School before attending and graduating from Buckley High School in 1941. Growing up Anita loved school and dreamed of being a teacher. She continued her education at Central Michigan University. Once she had her teaching degree, Anita taught at Brimley School, followed by Monroe Center and Interlochen School. Her final 25 years of teaching before retirement were spent at Sabin Elementary School. She cherished the memories and relationships she made with her students and their families. She always enjoyed hearing from her students.
Anita loved children and adored her granddaughter, Krystal. She looked forward to visits from her nieces, great-nieces, great-nephews, family, and friends. She loved gardening, reading, and keeping up with the news. She felt it was important to teach the next generation to read.
Anita was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur; son, David; and sister, Frances Folder.
She is survived by her son, Brian (Anna); and granddaughter, Krystal.
