Ann P. Grubb, 75, of Roscoe, Illinois and Traverse City, Michigan, passed peacefully Tuesday, March 14, 2017, in her home surrounded by her loving family and dogs. She was born April 11, 1941, in Saginaw, Michigan, the daughter of Raymond P. and Josephine (LaChonce) Paynter. Ann was a graduate and devoted alumni of the University of Michigan where she received her bachelor's Degree. She married Gardner Grubb on June 30, 1962, in St. Francis Chruch, Traverse City, Michigan and have been in love for more than 55 years.
Ann was the "rock of the family" whose passion was to counsel and guide her family. Among Ann's many passions included cooking, playing bridge and watching sports. She also loved showing her champion Samoyed's and traveling the world with her beloved husband. Ann was an avid University of Michigan Wolverines Fan. She was arguably their #1 fan. Ann was full of life and a woman who had a clever and creative sense of humor. She was the perfect wife and mother. She will be missed by all who knew her. Ann's loved ones who survived her include her husband, Gardener, her children Gina (Greg) Wall and Derrick (Debbie) Grubb; her grandchildren Brian Cox, Gabrielle (Ryan) Johnson, Breanna Grubb, Jordan Grubb, Danielle Grubb and Nicholas Wall; great grandchild, Emma Johnson; and her dogs, Reggie and Rusty. She was predeceased by her parents and brother, William Paynter. There was a visitation and funeral shortly after she left us and she was laid to rest at Mt. Thabor Catholic Cemetery in Beloit, Wisconsin, which is near her home in Roscoe, Illinois. As all of you know, there has always been a special place in Ann's heart for her childhood, and more recently, her second home in Traverse City. Due to her wonderful memories of Traverse City, Gardner and Ann's family will be having a tribute and memorial in Traverse City to celebrate Ann's life, and wish to invite you to join us and reminisce about your memories of Ann. This will be held on Friday, August 25, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Elks Club, 625 Bay Street, Traverse City, MI 49684
