Arthur "Larry" Haggerty, 80, of Warsaw, North Carolina, formerly of Mesick, passed into eternal life on Aug. 5, 2018 at Highsmith Rainey Care Center in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Larry served in the U.S. Army, where he met the love of his life, Miss Minnie Rose Ezzell, while stationed in Newport News, Virginia. They celebrated 59 years together on July 11, 2018.
He is survived by his wife, Minnie (Ezzell) Haggerty; his daughters, Kathy Chastain and husband, Yancy, of Centerville, Georgia, Donna Paulson and husband, Thom, of Traverse City, Deborah Widrig and husband, Lewis, of Interlochen, and Karen Smith, of Warsaw, North Carolina; and sister, Arlene Kortema, of Thompsonville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur J. Haggerty and Adella F. (St. Clair) Haggerty; and a brother, Arnold "Jerry" Haggerty.
Larry was a great mechanic who could fix anything and worked at Haggerty's Service in Mesick for many years. After moving to Warsaw, North Carolina, he worked at Murphy Farms as a truck mechanic until he retired.
He was a faithful member of Johnson Baptist Church in Warsaw, North Carolina, the Order of the Eastern Star #267 in Newton Grove, North Carolina, and the James E. Dillon Lodge in Mesick.
Funeral services officiated by the Rev. Buck Grady were held at Johnson Baptist Church on Aug. 9. Burial followed at Devotional Gardens in Warsaw, North Carolina.
Funeral arrangements were by Tyndall Funeral Home, Mount Olive, North Carolina.
