Arthur Robert Send went to his savior on Monday, Nov. 20, 2017 after a short stay at Munson Hospice House. We are sure that his wife, Florence, and their son, Mike, took his hand into heaven. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Arthur was born Nov. 3, 1929 to Martin and Anna Send in Suttons Bay. He joined the U.S. Marines and worked at Parsons Inc. until he married his sweetheart, Florence Laming, on May 1, 1954. Together he and Florence ran a dairy farm with his brother, Richard (Rose), in Williamsburg and raised 11 children.
Arthur loved to spend time with his family and always looked forward to the family get-togethers. He enjoyed the fall time when sunflowers were in bloom and just respected mother nature and all its beauty.
He had a strong Catholic faith and said the rosary everyday.
He leaves his 10 children, Rose (Gary) Hanna, of Williamsburg, Gloria (John) Hamelund, of Big Rapids, Pamela (Bob) Lewis, of Williamsburg, David Arthur (Diane) Send, of North Canton, Ohio, Gregory (Jill) Send, of Williamsburg, Mary (George) Drogt, of Kewadin, Jeffery (Sandy) Send, of Traverse City, Eric (Donna) Send, Martin (Jeanie) Send and Mark (Tara) Send, all of Williamsburg; 29 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Florence; sisters, Lillian, Gert and Dorothy; brother, Alfred; and his son, Michael.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., with a Vigil for the Deceased at 7 p.m., on Friday, Nov. 24, at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Elk Rapids. A Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 25, with the Rev. Robert J. Zuchowski presiding. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
