Barbara was born Oct. 10, 1948 to Fred Cook and Rosalie Larabell Cook in Monroe. She went to be with the Lord on Dec. 4, 2017 at Grand Traverse Pavilions, where she resided for the last year.
Barbara graduated with honors from Huron High School in New Boston. Barbara was a beautiful young lady and was selected as homecoming queen at her high school and worked as a secretary after graduation.
Barbara met and married Wayne Crooks and had a daughter, Julie Lynn Crooks, of whom she was extremely proud. Unfortunately the marriage ended and Barbara moved to Traverse City to be near family and resided here for 40 years.
Barbara is survived by her dear daughter, Julie and her husband, Jeff Hawkins, of Chandler, Arizona; her beloved twin grandchildren, Sophie and Logan; her mother, Rosalie Cook, of Traverse City; brothers, David (Denise), Jim (Helen) and Fred (Jill), all of Traverse City; one sister, Theresa Claypool (Allen), of Indiana, Pennsylvania; and many other loving family members and friends.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Grand Traverse Pavilions and staff for the loving care they provided during Barbara's illness.
There will be a memorial service at a later date.
The family requests no flowers.
