Belle's Story

Belle Hansen, 103, of Frankfort, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2017. She was born in Mason County on Jan. 19, 1914 to William and Lettie Nickelsen.
She met and married Richard Hansen in Manistee on July 30, 1936 and had two children, which they raised in Frankfort.
Belle was a homemaker and loved playing cards of any type, but her passion was bridge, traveling the country and internationally to play.
Belle moved from her Crystal Lake home to Traverse City after her husband's death, returning once again to Frankfort to reside at the Frankfort Pines.
She is survived by daughter, Arletta (Robert) Newberry, of Frankfort; daughter-in-law, Sonja Hansen, of Lancaster, California; sister, Evelyn Riddell, of Grand Rapids; grandchildren, June (Wes) Burcham, Richard Hansen, Roger (Lori) Hansen, Jerry (Sherri) Hansen, Noreen Newberry and Wes Newberry; along with great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband, Richard Hansen; sister, Wilma Ravelin; son, Richard "Dick" Hansen; and great-grandson, Joe Hansen.
Belle's family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the loving care she received from all her caregivers during her eight years at the Frankfort Pines. Your compassionate care means more than you know.
Per Belle's wishes she has been cremated and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
