Bernard Gale Fleetwood


Bernard "Bernie" Gale Fleetwood died March 1, 2019 in Naples, Florida, following a long illness.
He leaves his wife of 52 years, Jeanie (Love) Fleetwood; his daughter, Barbara (Fleetwood) Shaffer and her partner, Daniel Roques; and his grandchildren, Coleman Shaffer and Alice Shaffer.
He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Fleetwood.
Born and raised in Beulah, he was a resident of Traverse City until 2009. He had since resided in Marco Island, Florida.
Bernie loved his work and served the City of Traverse City from 1975 until his retirement in 2003. In his various roles in the recreation department, the street department and finally as harbormaster of Clinch Park Marina, Bernie was a familiar face in the community.
Funeral and burial arrangements are private.

I worked with Bernie for many years at the City of Traverse City. It was never a dull moment when Bernie was in the office or out at the marina. My heart goes out to his family. Bernie will be missed.
