Bethel J. Bye, 88, of East Jordan died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017 at Grandvue Medical Care Facility in East Jordan.
She was born Aug. 1, 1929 in Keswick Township, Leelanau County, to Perry and Bertha (Lambert) Groesser.
On Nov. 13, 1947 she married Clifford Bye in Keswick Township. They made their home in Flint until moving to East Jordan in 1989.
Bethel was a teacher at Westwood Heights School in Flint until her retirement in 1989. She enjoyed swimming, traveling and going to the Senior Center.
Surviving are her husband, Clifford; children, Nels (Marsha) Bye, of Hillman and Lois (James) Banks, of Hickory Hills, Illinois; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Betty Groesser, of East Jordan. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sherry Bye; brothers, Gale Groesser, Lester Groesser and Perry Leon Groesser.
Bethel's body has been donated to the University of Michigan Medical School. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
