Beulah Etta Peterson, with her family at her side, went to be with her Lord on Nov. 29, 2017 at the age of 103 years.
Betty, known to most as "Gram," will be lovingly remembered by her surviving daughter, Nancy, as well as fondly and forever remembered by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members, dear friends and caregivers.
Betty was born in Howard City on March 23, 1914 to the late Albert and Elizabeth (Van Koughnett) Thompson. She met her handsome husband, Benjamin, at church in Detroit, where they married on March 23, 1935. They moved to Wheaton, Illinois, where they raised their two daughters. Betty devoted herself to her family and was deeply committed to and involved with her grandchildren. Her guidance leads them now and will continue for generations.
She assisted her husband, Ben, in the development of his ice cream flavoring business and was a quiet and steady influence throughout the years.
Our mom and gram was a kind and charitable woman reaching out her hand to family and many Christian charities. Betty and our Ben were blessed and never forgot those in need.
Betty's husband, Benjamin, preceded her in death at age 100. They were married 78 years. Her daughter, Charlotte (Bohlmeyer), also preceded her in passing.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Brad) Derington; son-in-law, Dan Bohlmeyer; grandchildren, Elizabeth Jordan (Dave), Benjamin (Shelley) Peterson, Stefen (Grace) Peterson, Anders (Korrie) Peterson, Rebecca Peterson-Frediani (Tom) and Charles (Elizaveta) Peterson; great-grandchildren, Madison (Dan) Legris, Eric Jordan, Taylor, Elizabeth, Jasmin, Gabriel, Dylan, Jacob, Hailey, Mason and Hannah Peterson, Rachel Frediani and Charlotte Peterson; great-great-grandchild, River; sister-in-law, Terry Thompson; son-in-law, Gary Peterson; dear friend, Lataya Silza; and many nieces and nephews.
The family is being cared for by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
