Beverly Jean Lown (Smith), of Kingsley, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2017 while spending time in Apache Junction, Arizona.
Beverly was preceded in death by her father and mother, Kenneth Floyd and Francis Arvella Smith; and brothers, Ron and Robert Smith.
Beverly is survived by husband, Phillip W. Lown; sons, Max (Melissa) Lown, of Kingsley, and Rex Lown, of Kingsley; daughter, Alexis (Jeremy) Caron, of Frisco, Texas; grandchildren, James (Emily) Lown, Taylor Lown, Abby Lown, Gus Caron, Grace Caron and Lucas Caron; great-grandchildren, Sarah Wiland, Hunter Wiland, Josh Wiland and newborn great-grandson, Henry Lown; siblings, Alice O'Brian, Earl Smith, Karen (Robert) Meyer and Carol Charley; in-laws, Cynthia (Richard) Beckwith, Janet Chamberlain, Pat Evans and Jerry (Susan) Lown; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Beverly married Philip Lown on Dec. 31, 1962, and over the past 54 years they cultivated an amazing life together. Beverly took great pride in her children and grandchildren. She loved her family and friends dearly.
Beverly and Phil purchased their family dairy farm in Kingsley in 1970, where raising cows, sheep (especially Jumper) and tending to her flowers were some of her greatest joys. Beverly had a great love for being out in nature. Some of her favorite activities were riding her John Deere tractor to mow her and her son Rex's lawns and fishing, especially with her grandchildren.
She worked as a certified nurse's assistant for many years at the Grand Traverse Pavilions (formerly Medical Care Facility) in Traverse City, from which she retired in 2004.
After retirement, Beverly and Phil spent their winters traveling in their fifth wheel and staying in Apache Junction, Arizona, where they formed several lifelong friendships.
You never had to guess how Beverly felt; she was sure to let you know. Bev was a feisty, hard working, fun-loving spirit who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial service will be planned for a later date.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Dobson Home/Hospice of the Valley, Chandler, Arizona, for their support in her final days.
