Blanche Eloise Hogerheide, 91, of South Boardman, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017. Born March 10, 1926 in Kalkaska, she was the daughter of the late Ervin and Ruby (Bennett) Lantzer. She was a longtime resident of Kalkaska County.
Blanche married Merwin Hogerheide on Sept. 15, 1946 in Kalkaska.
She worked for the Chamber of Commerce in Kalkaska for many years and was the manager of the South Boardman Senior Center.
Blanche was a devoted mother and loving wife who enjoyed crafts, especially sewing and knitting, tending her garden, watching birds and spending time with her friends.
She was a member of the Eastern Star in Grand Rapids, the American Legion Auxiliary Post 463 and the Senior Citizens of South Boardman. She loved being a part of her community and was always willing to help others.
Blanche is survived by her husband of 71 years, Merwin; children, Carol (Richard) Cutler, Jan (Joe) Antecki and Ric A. (Marsha) Hogerheide; grandchildren, Joseph (Rebecca) Antecki Jr., Ric Hogerheide Jr., Rece (Kristen) Hogerheide, Gerrit Hogerheide and Kerstin Hogerheide, Mike (Laine Cocorin) Cutler, Tim (Kellie) Cutler, David (Stephine) Cutler, Renee (Jeff) Haveman, Meredith Scarcliff, Katie (Steve) Bradley, Emily (Adam) Bickle, Jonathan Cuttler and Jeff (Sarah) Cutler; great-grandchildren, Kailene, Keenan, Callie, Jessica, Erica (Josh) Kunnen, Kennedy, Alec, Lauren, Justin, Jacob, Ethan, Madison, Sam, Elizabeth, Gabbi, Zachary, Aliece, Andrew, Hannah, Isabella, Logan, Dylan, Leah and Olivia; sisters, Mary Heinzelman, June Brunette and Ruby Dee Rainey; and special friend and neighbor, Clara Bonebreak.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Robert (Nancy) Hogerheide and Kim Hogerheide; and brothers, Ervin and Edwin Lantzer.
Visitation will take place from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 19, at Kalkaska Funeral Home, 152 S. Cedar St., Kalkaska. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., with final visitation beginning at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 20, at Kalkaska Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Boardman Township Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in Blanche's honor to the Senior Center of South Boardman.
