Carmen May Bammert, age 83, of Flushing, went to be with her Lord Sunday, June 4, 2017.
Carmen was born on May 15, 1934 in Calumet, to the late Mr. Edward and Marie (Posey) Newman. Carmen was a woman of many talents.
She was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School and the St. Joseph's School of Nursing, receiving her registered nurse degree.
Carmen was musical, playing the piano and organ. She was also a well-known local artist and a past president and member of the Left Bank Gallery. Carmen would often travel to local and international art shows, displaying her beautiful artwork.
She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Carmen is survived by her children, Robert M. Bammert, James L. Bammert, Thomas E. (Susan) Bammert, David A. (Lynnette) Bammert, Mary M. (Ronald) Lints, Judith B. (Craig) Adams and Gary F. (Traci) Bammert; 18 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and brother, Edward (Anne) Newman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Bammert; brother, William Newman; and sister, Alice Ouellette.
The family would like to thank Munson Hospice and Country Pleasures Assisted Living in Traverse City for their mother's care during the last year.
A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, June 12, 2017, at 10:30 a.m., with one hour of visitation prior to Mass, at St. Robert's Catholic Church, 310 N. Cherry St., Flushing, with Fr. Anthony Brooks celebrating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., with a rosary prayer service at 7 p.m., on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Reigle Funeral Home, 5501 W. Pierson Road, Flushing.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Greater Flint Art Council in Carmen's name.
