Charles's Story

Charles "Dick" Richard Ames, 87, of Kalkaska, passed away on Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, at Kalkaska Memorial Health Care - LTC. He was born in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Keith and Pearl (Schondel) Ames.
Dick is survived by his son, Charles "Charlie" R. (Linda) Ames, of South Boardman; his grandchildren, Jerry R. (Victoria) Ames, of Kingsley, and Michelle L. (Matthew) Price, of Kalkaska; and five great-grandchildren.
Dick married Shirley Ann Fowler on May 16, 1950 in Angola, Indiana, and she preceded him in death in 1996.
Dick spent his life in the automotive world specializing as a tool and die operator, retiring from Jeep in Toledo after 30 years of service.
His hobbies included bird watching, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Evergreen Bible Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Dec. 4, at 11 a.m., with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service, at Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home. Pastor Bill Kuiper of Evergreen Bible Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in LaSalle.
