Christopher Jason Thorpe, 28, of Traverse City, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Sept. 1, 2017. Chris was born on May 13, 1989 in Traverse City to Jason B. Thorpe and Lisa A. Gauthier.
He graduated from Kalkaska High School in 2008.
He married Rose Fournier on July 8, 2015 in Traverse City.
Chris honorably served our country in the United States Army Reserve for seven years.
Chris worked for Gypsum Supply and Streeters. He was also known as Christyle, "King of The North" in the Michigan's Most Wanted Rap Group. He loved to write and perform his music. He also enjoyed collecting guns and working on cars.
Chris was always giving and loving to others. His happiest day was the birth of his daughter.
Surviving Chris are his wife, Rose; daughter, Morgan; parents, Jason and Lisa; siblings, Jason, Jesslyn and Adrianne Thorpe and Ayshya and Bryce Gauthier; grandmothers, Katherine Harrison and Diana Thorpe; godmother, Nancy Schwall; and many special aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Chris was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Daniel J. Gauthier Sr. and Bruce D. Thorpe; uncle, Patrick Christopher Gauthier; and godfather, Clint A. Emert.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m., with visitation starting at 10 a.m., on Friday, Sept. 8, 2017, at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Burial will take place at the Barnum Cemetery in Mayfield. A celebration of his life will also take place at Streeters immediately after services.
