Donald G. Marlow, 85, of Traverse City , died Monday, Nov. 13, 2017 after fighting a short battle with cancer. Don was born Aug. 30, 1932 to the late George and Helen (Duncan) Marlow in Detroit.
Upon graduating from McKenzie High School, he then joined the U.S. Army, serving our country for a period of two years during the Korean War.
Following his discharge Don applied for and served the City of Detroit as a police officer for 26 years, retiring at the rank of Sergeant. Following his retirement, he and his wife, Betty, moved to Interlochen, where he was the head of security for the Interlochen Center for the Arts for eight years.
He then retired again to hunt and fish full time along with casino group outings and enjoyed friends, laughter and gambling. Don will always be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and his jokester style.
Don is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty Jane; his daughter, Paula, of Traverse City; and his sister, Barbara Marlow, of Traverse City. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Robert, George and Kenneth.
At his request, no service will be held.
