Dorothy I. Wares

Our kind, loving mother, grandmother, spiritual sister and dear friend, Dorothy I. (Adams) Wares, 93 years young, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2019. She lived a long, wonderful, fulfilling life.
A native of Traverse City, she was born Jan. 13, 1926 to Emma (Rice) Johnson. She remained in Traverse City the rest of her life, except winters that were spent in Florida.
While working at Parts Manufacturing Company, she met her husband to be, Earl M. Wares, also of Traverse City, and married on Aug. 11, 1945. The two of them had four children whom they raised in a fun, loving, spiritual atmosphere, showing hospitality to strangers and friends, reaping long, lasting friendships.
As the children grew, she and Earl traveled the United States, Canada, Mexico, Asia and Europe, all the while Dorothy adding to her owl collection from each country.
Besides being called the Avon Lady for 35 years, she wanted to be known as a "Bible Educator," being baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on Sept. 24, 1958 and sharing her hope for the Bible-based hope of an earthly resurrection on a paradise earth, referring anyone with questions to
She was witty, classy, with a huge sense of humor, making everyone laugh with her stories and exceptional photographic memory, but most of all, very kind.
Born to Dorothy and Earl are Lynette (James) Reed, of Roswell, Georgia, Gregory (Lee Ann Kiel) Wares, of Mancelona, Karen (John) Drayton-Stocker, of Sedona, Arizona, and Lori (Darwin) Wares Wagner, of Traverse City. She had five grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her dance partner and beloved husband of 65 years, Earl M. Wares; mother; and brothers, Walter and Terrence Adams.
On Saturday, April 27, the family will receive friends at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses located at 1950 Chase Road, Traverse City, which Dorothy and Earl attended for many years. Family visitation from 2 to 3 p.m. will precede the memorial service at 3 p.m. Due to limited seating, adults only. A celebration of life reception will follow at Kings Court Clubhouse.
Dorothy and the family have asked that donations be made to to include disaster relief around the world.

Yes, quite a gal Dorothy Ware's! Looking forward to spending more time with her in the rapidly approaching New World! Oh, if only all children in the world could have a strong spiritual mother like her to raise them.Thank you so much Greg and LeAnn for making sure we got a chance to spend time with her when we visited you in Michigan. We are thinking of all four of you Wares children with love. Job 14:13-15. Love Gary and Pat

She was our beacon, and our reminder to laugh, and appreciate the small seldom noticed beauties of Jehovah God's creation. Always sharing bits and pieces of her life with us and allowing us to glimpse into her past and see what life was like through her eyes. Ever caring, and ever thoughtful of what each person was needing, wether it was a hug, or a scripture, or a funny story that always included "well long story short" but never short, was her way of pouring her love all over you. Always there for me and her "huggy bear". We will miss her for a while and then celebrate her everlasting life on planet Earth that God made for us humans. That will be something we earnestly look forward to. Lov...e you Wares' like my own brother and sister's. 💕Read more

I met Dorothy when she sold Avon to my mother in 1976-77. She brought a beautiful light into our home at each visit. Loved sharing her stories as well. I met her daughter, Lori, around the same time and found the family to be very pleasant and loving. Thank you Dorothy for being a part of my life and memories. You are truly a beloved soul and will be missed dearly.
