Eleanor Marie Edgcomb passed away at the Maples Medical Care Facility Oct. 24, 2017. She was born in Manistee on Feb. 22, 1922 but was raised in Frankfort.
Those who grew up in Frankfort in the '50s and '60s may recall seeing her traveling the city on her bicycle on her way to one of her baby sitting jobs. She was considered to be the "best baby sitter" by many mothers, fathers and children.
Eleanor moved to Traverse City with her mother in the late '60s and remained there until 2007. At that time her newly appointed guardian, Pat Nigh Cleary, returned her to Frankfort to live at the Maples. Eleanor benefited over all these years from all of the Maples' staff who provided her with loving care and friendships. Her goodness brought out the best in others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Bell (Pratt) Edgcomb.
She leaves no living relatives but had a wealth of friends including Pat and Bill Cleary, Nonie Rasmussen, Florence Bixby and members of the Frankfort United Methodist Church.
A special thank you is extended for all the care and kindness given to Eleanor from the Maple staff.
Burial will be private.
Arrangements are by Jowett Family Funeral Homes and Cremation Service.
