Ernest Edward Brewer, 61, passed away Nov. 10, 2017, at Munson Medical Center with his loving wife and family at his side. Ernie was born April 16, 1956, to Wiley and Margaret (Porter) Brewer in Durand.
Ernie married Bonnie Sue Sowers just before deploying oversees and proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He remarried Bonnie on June 14, 2014. Ernie was a licensed builder and worked in the construction and building trades. Ernie was an avid fisherman, enjoyed hunting, and loved riding his Harley. Most of all, he loved his family, especially his children and grandchildren. Ernie was a member of Fresh Start Wesleyan Church, where he attended regularly.
Ernie is survived by his wife, Bonnie; his mother, Margaret; his children, Benjamin (Erin) Sowers, of Athens, Texas, April (Adam) Parkey, of Mancelona, Kristie (Jon) Bailey, of Palmer, Arkansas, Ernest (Debi) Brewer, of Santa Maria, California, and Jessica (David) Sawyers, of Grover Beach, California; his nine siblings, Frances Brewer, Tom Brewer, Barbara Hammond, Ruth Ann Sanders, Paul Brewer, Bonnie Brewer, Deborah Brewer, Mauro Lopez and Bruce Temple; 24 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Ernie was preceded in death by his father, Wiley Brewer.
A memorial service for Ernie will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, at Fresh Start Wesleyan Church in Bellaire.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts may be designated for Ernie's final expenses and directed to his family through Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home, 106 S. Cherry St., Kalkaska, MI 49646.
