Ethelene June Henson, 94, of Mancelona, formerly of Waterford, joined her husband and the angels on Aug. 16, 2017. She was born in the Lichty homestead to Frank and Jennie (Lichty) Frederick on June 27, 1923.
She is survived by sister, Linda E. Murray; brother, Marvin D. (Yvonne) Frederick; four children, Gary (Dawn) Henson, of Oxford, Sherry Kuchon (Mark Felock), of Waterford, Darrell Henson, of Waterford, and Judy (Peter) Tatum, of Livonia; 14 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Orrin Frederick, Alvin Frederick and Ervin Frederick; sisters, Eula Moore and Doris Queen; and great-grandson, Zachary Henson.
Ethelene left Mancelona when she was 19 years old. She went to Detroit, where she worked several odd jobs prior to meeting and marrying Jack Henson in 1950. The family settled in Waterford Township, where they remained for 30 years. In 1981 Jack and Ethelene built a new home on the land where she was born in which they lived out their years.
Ethelene loved children and her world was centered on being a mother and grandmother.
Funeral services will take place Saturday, Aug. 19, at noon, at the Pathway Community Church, with dear friend Louie Scholl officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will take place at Fairview Cemetery.
Donations made in memory of Ethelene Henson will be used to offset funeral expenses.
