Frances R. Manty, 97, of Traverse City, passed away June 7, 2018 with her daughter by her side. Frances was born on May 25, 1921 in Iron Mountain to the late Sante and Mathilda (Pastori) Cecchini.
On June 28, 1943 Frances married the love of her life, Mr. Martin Manty, in Texas while he was serving in the U.S. Army. In 1970 Frances and Martin moved to Traverse City from Ishpeming.
Frances was a devoted member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
She enjoyed taking walks, biking and cooking.
She was a cook for Traverse City Public Schools for over 20 years.
Frances is survived by her children, Michael (Carol) Manty, of Maple City, and Jacqueline (Robert) Epps, of Traverse City; sister, Eleanor Cullen, of Madison, Wisconsin; and grandchildren, Richard (Caryn) Epps, Pamela Manty, Jennifer (Kevin) Ahaus, Marlon (Kyle) Manty, Robyn (Mick) Tasevski and Rebecca (Bob) Meyers; and great-grandchildren, Catherine Brown, Mitchell Ahaus, Virginia Manty, Frances Manty, Jada Roberts, Jalen Roberts, Justin McCarthy, Michael Epps, James Epps, Danny Epps, Juliana Tasevski, Elena Taseski, Abigail Meyers and Matthew Meyers.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Martin in 1996; sister, Anna Nault; daughter-in-law, Peggy Manty; and a brother who died in infancy.
The family will celebrate her life privately.
The family would like to express their appreciation to all the staff at Bay Ridge Assisted Living for all of their loving care given to Frances over the past years.
