Frank W. Kuras Jr., 81, of Rapid City, passed away at home on Oct. 18, 2017. He was born on March 22, 1936 to the late Frank Sr. and Julia (Sklarczyk) Kuras in Gaylord. The family later relocated to Detroit.
Frank proudly served in the United States Navy which helped to give him his strong work ethic.
On Oct. 21, 1961 Frank married the love of his life, Jean Czapla, and together they would start a family in Redford Township.
Frank worked as a semi driver for UPS for 36 years. After Frank retired they moved to the Torch Lake area in 1995.
He had a strong faith in the Lord and great devotion to Divine Mercy. Frank was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Elks.
He was a very outgoing and caring man who will be missed dearly.
Frank will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Jean (Czapla) Kuras; sons, Keith (Jo Ann), of Redford, and Jeffrey (Helen), of St. Louis, Missouri; grandchildren, Alex, Nicholas and Amanda (Angela) Glore; sister, Louise (Donald) Tuszynski; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Awaiting him for a joyous celebration of eternal life are his parents; brother, Virgil (Ruby) Kuras; and cherished brothers-in-law, Stanley Jr. and Robert (Virginia).
The family will receive friends beginning at 9 a.m., with a memorial Mass at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017 at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, 0438 County Road 612 NE, Kalkaska, MI 49646.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Frank's honor may be made to St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, Kalkaska, or Hospice of Michigan.
Arrangements are entrusted to Kalkaska Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
