Frank Sibilia, 80, of Traverse City, passed away with his wife at his side on Thursday, April 27, 2017 after a long illness. He was born on Sept. 4, 1936 in White Plains, New York, to John and Grace Sibilia.
He married Carol Whited, the love of his life, in 1962. They enjoyed 54 years of joyful marriage.
Frank proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1955 to 1959.
He became a firefighter for the City of White Plains, New York, and served for 22 years.
He was most proud of the home that he and his wife built in Somers, New York, where they raised their three children. Gardening, fishing and birding were his most happy endeavors. Frank was a talented stonemason, woodworker and artist. His children and grandchildren have benefited from his extensive knowledge of history, gardening and never ending love of the New York Yankees.
He is survived by his wife, Carol (Whited) Sibilia; his children, Dania (Michael) Cannon, of Traverse City, Frank (Mary Rose) Sibilia, of Somers, New York, and Mark (Nicole) Sibilia, of New Milford, Connecticut; and his grandchildren, Kathleen, Lauren, Kellie, Sara, Kari, Grace, Jakob and Jack. He is also survived by two sisters, Mary (Dominic) Iodice and Margie (Robert) Patrick; as well as many relatives who will truly miss him.
A celebration of life will be held in White Plains, New York, on May 20, 2017 by McMahon, Lyon & Hartnett Funeral Home.
