Frank S. Snyder, 71, passed away peacefully while with family on Sunday, May 13, 2018 in Traverse City.
Frank was born on Sept. 7, 1946 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to the late Frank and Elizabeth (Veychek) Snyder. He married JoAnn Baldige on June 20, 1970 in Pittsburgh.
He received his Doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh and completed his dissertation on Sleeping Bear Dunes geomorphology.
Frank was a professor at Northwestern Michigan College, where he taught courses including economics and geography for over 40 years.
Frank truly enjoyed being outdoors in nature. He loved to travel and spend time with his family.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, JoAnn; a son, Frank (Kelly) Snyder; a daughter, Pamela (Christopher) Gilmartin; and four grandchildren. Also surviving are his sister, Jean (Jack) Kozlowski; a sister-in-law, Annie Snyder; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Frank was preceded in death by his brother and lifelong friend, Robert Snyder.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m., with visitation starting at 10 a.m., on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Christ The King Catholic Church, 3801 Shore Road, Williamsburg, MI 49690. The Rev. Fr. Raymond Cotter will officiate.
