Harold James Petter, 88, of Traverse City, died Friday, Nov. 17, 2017.
He was born in Ellsworth on May 20, 1929, the son of William and Blanche Petter. Harold graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1946 and married Helen Orcutt, who preceded him in death in July of 2011.
Harold and Helen moved to Traverse City in 1951 and lived there until their deaths. Harold worked for the Michigan State Highway Department for 12 years and for 34 years held various sales positions. In his later years, he enjoyed delivering cars for Williams Automotive dealership.
His interests included Barbershop singing plus golf, fishing, word puzzles and reading.
Harold is survived by two daughters, Tafra (Bob) Krevinghaus, and Janna (Ron Flack) Slotten. His surviving siblings include two brothers, Ed Petter, and Bill Petter; and two sisters, Sue Petter and Linda Wetzel.
Harold was predeceased by siblings, Shirley Petrie, Marilyn Coakley and Betty Moore.
Harold was grandfather to Kirsten (John) Soltis and Kendra Randolph, and a great-grandfather to Thomas, Jillian, Anna and Evelyn.
A celebration of Harold's life will take place on Friday, Dec. 1, 2017 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Community Building, King's Court, 2899 LaFranier Road, in Traverse City.
The family wishes to extend special appreciation to the staff at the Cowell Infusion Center and the staff of the Munson Heart Failure Clinic for the compassionate care Harold received, as well as the girls at Sparky's Diner who always made him feel special.
Arrangements were entrusted to Covell Funeral Home of Traverse City.
