Jack J. "Bud" Penoza, age 86, of Gladstone, formerly of Escanaba and Elk Rapids, passed away Monday, April 10, 2017.
He was born July 7, 1930 in Hamtramck to Joseph and Sophie (Zawacki) Penoza. Bud married Lavonne Larsen on Aug. 26, 1961 in Birmingham.
Bud owned and operated Buds Beer Stein Bar and Restaurant and also drove truck for a time, worked construction - basically a "Jack" of all trades.
He was a member of the AMVETS Post #114 in Elk Rapids and was a life member of the Escanaba Elks Lodge.
Bud enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and playing cards. Bud loved cooking at family gatherings and spending time at Dave and Danielle's cottage. He was happiest when the family got together. He was an avid sports watcher and a big fan of the Detroit Tigers, Lions and Red Wings.
Bud is survived by his wife, Lavonne; children, Vicci Penoza TerVeer, David (Connie) Penoza, John (Anna) Penoza and Amy (Bob) Inman; nine grandchildren, Matthew TerVeer, Marissa TerVeer, Amber (Dan) Brayak, Danielle (David) Artley, Glenn Nance, Josh Nance, Nick Inman, Danielle Inman (Chris) Bednarski and Hannah Inman; eight great-grandchildren, Mya and Brandon Brayak, Carson and Taylor Artley, Jordan, Kayleigh and Logan Nance and Payton Inman; stepbrother, Bob Moir; and stepsisters, Kathy (Roger) Will and Joannie Moir.
Bud was preceded in death by his mother, Sophie; stepfather, Joseph Kavalunas; father, Joseph; and stepmother, May Moir Penoza.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Covell Funeral Home of Elk Rapids.
