Jacqueline L. Jones, age 94, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 12, 2018 at French Manor South, in the loving care of her family.
Jacqueline was born to Carl and Ruth (Bradford) Gertz on Sept. 26, 1923 in Hammond, Indiana. Jacqueline was raised in Oak Lawn, Illinois where she graduated from high school. Shortly after graduating high school, Jacqueline married Arthur E. Jones and together they had their first of two sons, Ronald A. Jones, followed 14 years later by their second son, Jeffrey C. Jones.
In 1948, after a family vacation to Traverse City to visit family, Jacqueline and Arthur decided to make Traverse City their home where Jacqueline has been ever since. Jacqueline worked for various companies through the years in Traverse City, retiring from the City of Traverse City (Treasurer's Department).
Even though Jacqueline spent the most of her life in Michigan, she kept her roots when it came to her favorite sports teams. She loved Chicago sports, and absolutely loved watching the Chicago Cubs. She had a passion for cars, flowers and birds, especially cardinals, which she adored. Jacqueline also had a passion for buying and remodeling homes, so much that she and family moved a total of eight times in 11 years.
Jacqueline is survived by her sons, Ronald A. Jones, Traverse City, and Jeffery C. (Lori) Jones, Traverse City; grandchildren; Robin T. Jones, Traverse City, Erin Jones and Dylan Jones; great-grandchildren, Daniel Jones, Shelby M. Jones-Stachnik, all of Traverse City; brother, Richard Gertz, Traverse City; and sister; Carol Sue Kaiser, Grand Rapids.
