James's Story

James Daniel Bailey Sr., 81, of Cadillac, passed away Jan. 17, 2018 with family by his side.
Jim was born to the late Albert and Ethel (Hearn) Bailey on May 11, 1936 in Alma.
Jim went to St. Louis Public Schools and was an amazing four letter athlete in baseball, basketball, football and track. After high school and all of his accomplishments, he attended Ferris State University.
Jim proudly served our country in both the National Guard and the United States Army.
In 1956, James and Carol (Rhoades) were wed and together they raised three wonderful children.
His successes continued as he went on to become the owner and operator of Tri Service plumbing, electrical, heating and cooling business, retiring in 1998.
He was an avid sports enthusiast, being sure to tune into the Detroit Tigers as often as possible, played fast pitch softball, golf, enjoyed bowling playing both on a men's league and a doubles league with his wife. Jim was crafty with his hands and built beautiful pieces of furniture, as well as spent many evenings and weekends watching his grandchildren play their sports. Jim loved to fish and hunt and looked forward to the annual trek to deer camp with his hunting buddies.
Jim will always be remembered for his strong work ethic, his quiet soft spoken ways, his love for sports, but most notably for being the coolest grandpa around for playing video games up until his final days.
Jim is survived and missed dearly by his children, Jacquelyn Bailey, Jim (Kim) Bailey and Terri (Carl) Townsend. He is also survived and missed dearly by his grandchildren, Nicholas (Jesse) Whitfield, Ricky Whitfield, Alexandra Whitfield, Jacob (Ashlee) Townsend, Casey (Sarah) Townsend, Hannah Townsend, Amber Bailey and Reid Bailey; and great-grandchildren, Makenna and Harper Townsend; as well as his sister, Rachel Adler.
He was preceded in death by his lovely wife, Carol; his parents, and his siblings, Lawrence, Gordon, Dorothy and Verna.
