Janice Lynn Vezina
March 27, 1948 - January 29, 2019
Janice grew up in Traverse City and attended Traverse City Central High School, where she graduated in 1966.
After graduation Janice went to work as a secretary for MJ Macintosh, an automotive company making parts for GM. She also worked at Traverse Motors and Robinson's Auto Body as an office manager, from where she eventually retired in 2017.
If there's one thing Janice loved, it was bowling. Janice was a superb bowler.
It was at the Timberlanes Bowling Center that Janice met James Vezina, and it was not long thereafter they began dating. On May 18, 2001 Janice and James married in Lake Tahoe, California.
Together Janice and James traveled all over the country, bowling in various tournaments and leagues. Janice was also inducted into the Traverse City Bowling Hall of Fame. Aside from bowling, Janice was an avid sports enthusiast and had a deep passion for gardening. She loved spending time with her family and always looked forward to Christmas and Thanksgiving, for which she enjoyed preparing meals and having the family together. Cookie time with her grand-daughters was always a treat for her.
Janice is survived by her husband, James; children, Angela (Neal) Jones and Joshua Stone; granddaughters, Chezyrae and Jazlyne Jones; sister, Marti (Terry) Misener; niece, Meghan; and nephews, Brian, Joe and Lyle.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents; son, Daniel; and two grandsons, Nicklas and Brendan.
A memorial service for Janice will take place at 11 a.m., with a visitation one hour prior to the service, on Monday, Feb. 4, 2019 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Pastor Tim Manzer will officiate.
The family asks that memorial contributions be directed to Cherryland Humane Society, 1750 Ahlberg Road, Traverse City, MI 49696.
