Jean E. Tibbits

Jean Elizabeth Tibbits, 85, of Williamsburg, formerly of Lewiston and Saginaw, passed away peacefully on Jan. 2, 2019, in Traverse City, after her long battle with COPD. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her many friends and family.
Jean was the daughter of the late William T. and Otellia (Mynarova) Kulow of Carrollton.
Jean's husband of 65 years, Keith A. Tibbits Sr.; son, Keith A. Tibbits Jr., (Lt. Col., USMC, and graduate of the United States Naval Academy); and siblings, Silvia (Linus "Len") Countegan, Marjorie (Sanford) Black, Sally (Kenneth) Krueger, and Richard (Kathryn "Kate") Kulow preceded her in death.
Jean was a wonderfully loving and efficient housewife, bank teller, and antique shop manager. She enjoyed reading, camping, fishing, gardening, cooking, traveling, trivia games, spending time with family and friends, and cheering for the Detroit Tigers.
She is survived by her son, Jeffrey (Christine) Tibbits, of Cedar; daughters-in-law, Michelle Ryan Tibbits, of Texas and Karen (Larson) Tibbits, of South Carolina; granddaughters, Ashley (Todd) Huff, of Texas and Kelsey Williams, of Oklahoma; grandsons, AJ (Ashley) Tibbits, and Hayes Huff; and great-grandson, Hayden Huff, all of Texas; siblings, Kenneth (Lila) Kulow, and William A. (Penny) Kulow; and many nieces and nephews in the Saginaw area.
As were her wishes, cremation has taken place. Jean's immediate family will hold a private memorial service for her in northern Michigan later this summer.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home of Kalkaska. Condolence messages can be sent via our website:
Per Jean's wishes, in lieu of sending flowers, Jean asked for friends and family members to donate generously to any of the following organizations: the American Lung Association, the COPD Foundation, the American Heart Association, or the American Diabetes Association. Thank you and God bless you!
