Jessie V. Fouch, 89, of Traverse City, left her earthly home on Dec. 19, 2017, surrounded by family at Munson Medical Center. She was born on July 15, 1928 to Harold and Elizabeth (Hofman) Houghton in Elmwood Township.
On July 26, 1947 Jerry Fouch walked into her life, and for 70 years they have been walking side by side. Together lived well in nine homes, building three of them, traveled from Hawaii to Alaska and many places in between. They wintered in Gulf Shores, Alabama, for 20 years and enjoyed the trips to Chapel Lodge Fishing. Together they raised a family, hunted, fished, gardened and watched the Detroit Tigers.
As a beautiful couple, they were inseparable and remained independent until the end. They were the true representation of the greatest generation, a historic relationship, with strong values and even stronger relationships with their family and their faith.
Jessie is survived and missed dearly by her husband and partner in life; her children, Lynn (Durke) Smith and Jerry (Susan) Fouch; her sisters, Jeri (John) Fouch and Jean Watoski; her amazing grandchildren, Matthew (Jill) Fouch, Allison (Brody) Duncan, David (Ashley) Fouch and Kasie Carlson; as well as 10 amazing great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by both her parents; one son at infancy, Kimberly Fouch; her brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Beatrice Houghton; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Glen Coleman; as well as brother-in-law, Bill Watkoski.
