John "Johnny" Johnson, 59, of Traverse City, passed away July 5, 2018 in an accident at his home.
John was born Dec. 18, 1958 to the late John E. and Frieda (Kaltenbach) Johnson in Lansing.
Growing up he was one of eight children; the middle child that all the siblings loved because he could just adapt to the age groups like a natural. He was always available to provide his siblings with some true laughter and smiles through the years.
John truly was the master of all trades and alongside his brother Clinton, they could fix anything. He loved life and lived it to the fullest, never looking back, always instead, seeking the next adventure. For him, family wasn't limited to a blood relative, if you knew John; you knew that you were family to him. He would offer to lend a hand at anything to help and would give his shirt off his back if needed. John was a kind soul, a perfect father; grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be always remembered for his zest for adventure, his"don't worry, be happy" spirit and his approach with life; live it, love it and be proud of it.
John is survived and missed dearly by his two children, Joshua (Angela) Johnson and Laura Scott; their children and John's grandchildren, Gage Scott, Sully Johnson and Hayden Vendville. He is also survived and missed like crazy by his siblings; Theresa (Richard) Sova, Clinton Johnson, RuthAnn (John) Visser, Mary Lynn (Mike) Marek, Lisa (Arnie) Terrell and Leo Johnson; brother in law, Roger DeVuyst, as well as many nieces and nephews who were all his "favorite" and his four legged companion, Drama, who will be missing her tag along pal.
John was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Linda DeVuyst; and his sister-in-law, Lisa Johnson.
A public visitation will take place on Thursday July 12, 2018 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
In Lieu of flowers, those considering an expression of sympathy may choose to do so to the Johnson Family c/o Josh Johnson and/or Laura Scott; 305 Sixth Street, Traverse City, MI 49684.
