John Lee Moyer died peacefully on Dec. 20, 2017 in Clinton Township. He was born on June 28, 1928, in Williamstown, Pennsylvania, the second son of five children born to John J. R. Moyer and Beatrice M. Moyer.
He had a lifetime of memories with four brothers, Jay (Doris) Moyer, Gary (Mary Anna) Moyer, Jan (Donna) Moyer and Sherill (Mary) Moyer.
John served in the United States Navy aboard the aircraft carrier Philippine Sea from 1946 to 1948. He earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from General Motors Institute. He subsequently started working at Pontiac Motor Company in Pontiac, where he met his future wife, Virginia Eleanor Bressey, and they were married in 1954. John was a devoted and loving husband and together they had four children, Kerr (Patty) Moyer, Todd (Coleen) Moyerbrailean, Jon (Maggie) Moyer and Kristy (Tom) Doherty. He educated by example and instilled in his children a strong work ethic, ability to logically see through life's problems, desire to help others in life and a sound moral compass. He and Virginia provided great childhood memories of "up north" at Torch Lake to seven grandchildren, Justin and Lindsay Moyer, Greg and Anne Moyerbrailean and Lauren, Erica and Kelly Doherty, to which he will forever be lovingly remembered.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Beatrice; and his older brother, Jay.
A private gathering to celebrate his life will be held. Remember him fondly and lovingly in your thoughts and prayers. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.wasikfuneralhome.com.
