Joseph Daniel Stepanovich, 52, of Benzonia, left his family and friends unexpectedly on May 28, 2017. He was born to John and Mary Stepanovich on Jan. 13, 1965 in Grand Rapids.
Joe will be dearly missed by his wife of 24 years, Gina (VonEberstein); his loving children, John (age 19), United States Navy, Paul (age 16), Michael (age 14) and Gloria (age 12); father, John J. Stepanovich D.D.S.; brothers, Tim, Jim and Paul; sister, Ann (Steve) Dabkowski; mother-in-law, Gloria VonEberstein; brother-in-law, Kurt (Janet) VonEberstein; sisters-in-law, Ruth (Eric) Durak and Tina (Andy) Defraties; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary; brother, John; father-in-law, Jack; and brother-in-law, Harle VonEberstein.
Joe proudly served in the United States Coast Guard for 20 years.
Joe's greatest joy was his children and all their activities. He was their #1 fan. He especially loved his family, friends, entertaining with his stories, jokes and cooking. Fishing on Lower Herring Lake won't be the same without him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 3 at St. Ann Catholic Church with Fr. John Potter officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the Mass.
Those desiring may make contributions to an educational fund being set up for Joe's children c/o Gina Stepanovich. Burial will take place in Benzonia Twp. Cemetery with military honors.
