Josephine "Jo" Frances Ribel, 92, of Traverse City, passed away on Feb. 15, 2018 at Munson Medical Center. Jo was born on Dec. 9, 1925 in Dearborn, to her parents the late Joseph and Josephine (Adragna) Fundaro.
She graduated from Fordson High School where she excelled on the girls swim team. She met the love of her life, Louis Joseph Ribel in Junior High Band and they would later be married on July 20, 1946 in Dearborn.
Jo was a loving wife and mother and the couple moved 13 times for Louis's work before settling in Traverse City in 1967. She was an owner and operated Canteen Services of Northern Michigan with her husband for 30 years.
Jo loved to play golf at the Country Club and she was especially proud of winning the "Alice Bottell" Golf Trophy for best putting. She also enjoyed gardening and boating and was an active boating member of The U.S. Power Squadron.
Jo's family members are her late husband, Louis Joseph Ribel; daughter, Jacqualine Kann: son, Mark Louis (Jacqueline) Ribel; late son, Louis Scott Ribel; grandsons, David Core, Mark (Julie) Ribel, and Ryan (Christina) Ribel; great-grandsons, Anthony, Owen, Tyler, Brody, and Cooper Ribel.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, with visitation held at 2 p.m. A light food fare reception will immediately follow the service.
Memorial contributions in Josephine's name may be directed to Cowell Family Cancer Center of Traverse City.
