Joyce A. Wilks, 82, of Bellaire, passed away on March 24, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Joyce was born on July 31, 1934 in Mancelona, the daughter of Richard and Matye (Meadows) LaKies.
Joyce was employed with Bellaire Family Dentistry as office manager for 19 years, retiring in 1989.
She enjoyed traveling, casino trips, trips to Wart Lake in Ontario, Canada, as well as wintering in Florida. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
On July 17, 1954 in Mancelona, she married George Wilks, who survives. Also surviving are four children, Tami (Craig) Baclich, of Bellaire, Rich (Denise) Wilks, of Central Lake, Rhonda Wilks-Arndt, of Bellaire, and Lolly (Don) Balon, of Bellaire; five grandchildren, Brad (Trista) Lennox, Patrick Lennox, Rian Marie (Chris) Sanford, Ross (Abby) Arndt and Johnathan (Logan) Balon; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, with one on the way; two sisters, Sue Ann (Fred) Johnson, of Dexter, and Natalie Miller, of Traverse City; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister, Marylee; and a nephew, Arthur.
Private graveside services will take place at a later date in Lakeview Cemetery, Bellaire.
