Lloyd "Keith" Avery, 86, passed away on Sept. 29, 2017 at KMHC-LTC. He was born on April 8, 1931 in Excelsior Township to the late Howard and Ruby (Baker) Avery.
Keith was the longest living resident who had lived in Excelsior Township. He lived and farmed on the family farm on M-72 and County Road 571.
He served two years in the U.S. Army in France.
He was a loving husband, father and neighbor during that time. He helped many neighbors with his knowledge of animal care and machinery. His dry sense of humor endeared him to many.
Keith belonged to ASCS for over 40 years. This was an agriculture program that helped many farmers in Northwest Michigan.
Keith is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie; two children, Craig Avery and Angie Scott; six grandchildren, Misty (Steve), Ross (Holly), Eden (Eric), Ryan (Becca), Hannah and SophieAnn; three nephews, Scott, Paul and Steve; sister-in-law, Barbara Avery, of Marquette; and many great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bud "Claude" Avery; and sister, Ann Avery.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., with a visitation starting one hour prior to service, on Saturday, Oct. 14, at Bear Lake Christian Church, 221 E. Bear Lake Road NE, Kalkaska, MI 49646.
Arrangements were made by Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home, our family serving yours.
