Lloyd Gene Strang, 82, of Kalkaska, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loved ones on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017. Lloyd was born on May 20, 1935 to John and Bertha (Ross) in Sturgis.
Lloyd received his bachelor's and master's degrees in education from Central Michigan University.
He was a longtime teacher for the Kalkaska Public Schools, a coach and served as athletic director.
Lloyd was a member of the Kalkaska Church of Christ.
In Lloyd's spare time he enjoyed watching University of Michigan football and the Detroit Tigers. He liked to mushroom hunt, fish, ride snowmobiles, camp and travel. Lloyd always made time for those who needed his help.
Lloyd is survived by his daughters, Kathryn (Alan Myers) Strang and Susan (Craig) Price; granddaughter, Lauren Price; siblings, Ellen White, Vera Ecker, Richard Strang and Kenny Strang; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Anna; parents; and brothers, Raymond and Louie.
A memorial service will take place to honor Lloyd on Friday, Nov. 17, at 11 a.m., with visitation from 9 to 11 a.m., at the Kalkaska Church of Christ, 1725 W. Kalkaska Road NW.
Memorial contributions may be made in Lloyd's honor to the American Cancer Society.
