Lucile Mae Olson, 83, of Traverse City, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018 at Northport Highlands. Lucile was born in Grantsburg, Wisconsin, on Jan. 25, 1935 to Mabel (Nelson) and Carl Alvin Anderson.
Following high school Lucile attended the University of Wisconsin - Stout and received a Bachelor of Science degree in education in 1957.
She taught school in Wisconsin and Michigan until her retirement in 1990.
She enjoyed sewing and various crafts as hobbies. She was a member of First Congregational Church.
Lucile married Travis Olson on Aug. 22, 1959. Soon after they were married they moved to Michigan, where Travis accepted a position with the Parke-Davis Pharmaceutical Company. They lived in Grosse Pointe Woods and Ann Arbor until they retired in 1990. They enjoyed their cottage near Traverse City and gradually built on additions to accommodate a permanent home to retire in. They also enjoyed many trips, traveling extensively around the world.
Lucile is survived by her sister, Louise Smith, of St. Paul, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Travis; parents; and sisters, Lorna Jagusch and Loris Groskopp.
A service in the Garden of Remembrance at First Congregational Church will take place in the spring.
