Margaret (Maggie) Ann Maten passed away on Sept. 19, 2017 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was 87. Mrs. Maten was born on Aug. 28, 1930 in Detroit to her parents, John and Mary Brown.
Margaret worked at State Farm downstate for a number of years before moving to Williamsburg. She was employed up north as a secretary for Super Tool and enjoyed working at the Hitchpoint Cider Mill on weekends.
She always looked forward to the summer family reunions which were hosted at her house. Margaret was an avid reader, liked to crochet and loved boating on Lake Michigan with her late husband, Steven Maten.
Mrs. Maten was preceded in death by her loving husband, to whom she was married for 67 years, Steven Maten Jr.; and her son, Robert James Maten.
Mrs. Maten is survived by her son, Michael (Carol); her daughter, Beth Anne (James) Davis; her son, John (Joan); her son, Steven (Therese); her daughter, Susan (the late Joseph) Bertrand; her sister, Irene Roan; and her brother-in-law, Gerald Maten. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life for both Margaret and Steve will be held at a date to be determined.
