Born in 1921 in Chicago, Illinois, Marie spent over 30 years serving both patients and staff as a dedicated employee of Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
Marie was blessed with a large family, including five surviving children, Frank (Carolyn) and Dick (Bobbie), of Wisconsin, Judy (Jim Standerfer), of Elk Rapids, Marge, of Saginaw, and Pat (Brent Grouleu), of Rapid City. Marie has an amazing legacy of 16 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death were her son, James Tompkins; her parents, Chandler and Margaret (Topp) Bither; two brothers, Rodney and Chandler; sister, Jean (Kozlowski); and a granddaughter, Angela Standerfer.
Grandma T, as she was known by many, enjoyed spending time with family the most. She particularly loved family picnics at the park. In her earlier days she enjoyed painting and ceramics. Marie was an avid reader. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and especially playing games. Grandma T was an expert Yahtzee player! Marie also enjoyed her many trips to Wisconsin visiting family and cheering on her Green Bay Packers. Grandma T never missed a loved one's birthday or an anniversary. Getting a card from her was something to look forward to. Marie was dedicated and loving to everyone in her life. This special lady will truly be missed.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Margo for all her care and companionship she gave to their mother.
