Marjorie's Story

Marjorie A. Foster, of Traverse City, passed away on May 13, 2017. Marjorie was born in Flint in 1918.
Employed at General Motors and the City of Flint in her younger years, she loved being a homemaker for her family. In 1940 she married George Clifford Foster who was her husband for 68 loving years until his death.
She is survived by her son, George I. Foster, and daughter-in-law, Suzi Gugel, both of Traverse City; daughter, Marcia (Foster) Sills, and son-in-law, Randy Sills, both of Kalkaska; granddaughter, Kim Sills; Kim's fiance, Andrew Elliott; great-grandchildren, Asher and Autumn Elliott, all of Traverse City, also survive.
Preceding her in death were her father, Fred DeCou; mother, Helen (Hovey) DeCou; brother, Sidney DeCou; and sisters, Edythe (DeCou) West and Ada (DeCou) York, all originally from Flint.
Moving to the Traverse City area with her husband, George, upon his retirement in 1982, they loved residing up-north in the area where they spent many summer vacations. They both were longtime members of the First Church of Christ Scientist in Flint and later, Traverse City.
A memorial service was held for the immediate family in Traverse City.
