Mark Allen Larson, 55, of Kalkaska, passed away Nov. 27, 2017 at Munson Medical Center. Mark was born Nov. 7, 1962 to Carl and Linda in Ludington and grew up in several cities and towns around Michigan.
Mark married Debra Deming in June of 1983 in Durand.
After receiving his GED, he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1984.
He was with the 194th Armor Brigade 13th Engineer Company, which took him around the country, and then around the world, stationed in places such as South Korea and Honduras for months at a time.
After being honorably discharged in 1991 Mark and his family settled in Kalkaska.
Mark enjoyed sketching and drawing and was very talented at what he created. He also had a way with words, be them poetry or descriptive phrases, Mark really had an interesting way of making people understand what he was talking about.
Mark also spent a lot of time volunteering at events that needed security. From the Traverse City Opera House to the Dunegrass Festival in Empire, Mark enjoyed the music and the people.
Mark is survived by his wife of 34 years, Debra; his four children, Amber, Kari, Danielle and Aaron; three granddaughters; his mother, Linda Huber; two sisters, Brenda and Sheila; and brother, Greg. He also survived by his stepsister and brothers, Lois, Wes, Bob and Gary.
Mark was preceded in death by his stepfather, Roy Huber; stepmother, Mary Jane Larson; father, Carl Larson; and sister, Ellen Larson.
A memorial service for Mark Larson will be held at a later date.
