Martin Patrick Hamlin, 70, of Traverse City, a quiet, loving husband, father, grandpa and friend, passed away Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017 at Munson hospital in Traverse City. Marty was born Aug. 23, 1947 in Petoskey and then attended school at St. Mary's in Charlevoix.
He married his wife, Susan, on March 6, 1981.
He was employed at Penn-Dixie in Petoskey in the 1970s before relocating to Traverse City in the 1980s, where he worked construction.
Marty enjoyed watching westerns, exploring waterfalls, kayaking, camping and motorcycle rides.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Susan (Lohner) Hamlin, of Traverse City; sons, Patrick (Ali) Hamlin, of Manistique, and Marc Hamlin, of Traverse City; daughter, Danielle (Ryan) Clark, of East Jordan; and grandchildren, Morgan Hamlin, Madalaine Clark and Connor Hamlin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Loren and Helen (Haggerty) Hamlin; brothers, Tom Hamlin, Jim Hamlin and George Hamlin; sister, Jean Purvis; and granddaughter, Kayla Clark.
A time of gathering will be held Saturday, Dec. 9, from 2 to 6 p.m., at the Clark's residence, 2865 S. Ranney, East Jordan.
