Maureen Eva Moeke, 93, of Mancelona, passed away peacefully June 21, 2017, at her home among family. Maureen was born on April 7, 1924 in Elmira to the late Jesse and Thelma (Fewless) Cremeans.
Maureen was a homemaker and enthusiastically cared for her husband and children. She and her late husband were the owners of Moeke Lumber Company in Mancelona. She was a member of the Mancelona United Methodist Church, also the Mancelona Missionary Church where she taught Sunday school. Maureen enjoyed quilting, crafts and cooking. She had a love for music both country and gospel, especially the old hymns.
For 60 plus years she enjoyed the shores of Starvation Lake at their residence with her family and her passion for the outdoors. She loved to watch the birds and tend to her flower garden as well as spend time on the fishing boat, hoping to collect that evening's dinner.
Maureen is survived by her children, Mary Jo (Harvey) Smith, Barry, A.J. (Judith) Moeke, and George (Ginny) Moeke; grandchildren, Amy (David) Derrer, Pam (Rob) McIntosh, Renee (Tim) Voyt, Geoff (Rebecca) Moeke, Kelly (Paul) Minder, Lisa (Jonny) Barlow, Tori (Michael) Marchese, Meri (Michael) Overeem, Jim (Jessi) Smith and Bob (Carly) Smith. Also surviving Maureen are great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Kallie, Cody and Garrett Derrer, Brandon and Drew Moeke, Annie and Tommy McIntosh, McKenzie, Cole and Sienna Moeke, Hayden and Avery Minder, Alexa and Reagen Overeem, Carmen Marchese, Adriana and Sebastian and Roan and Nora Smith, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
Maureen was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond Gocha; Second husband, George B. Moeke; son, Thomas Raymond Gocha; grandsons, John Moeke and Mike Moeke; brothers, Donald Cremeans and Robert Cremeans; daughter in-law Ann Moeke.
A celebration of Maureen's life will take place privately with the family and close friends and neighbors.
