Nancy (Kocevar) Nelson
1945 - January 13, 2019
Nancy (Kocevar) Nelson, born 1945, in Chicago, died Jan. 13, 2019 in San Luis Obispo, California.
Nancy grew up in Benzie County with parents, Helen (Skrobak) and Joseph Kocevar, and siblings, Marie Helena, Joe and Fred, digging snow tunnels, picking wild leeks and swimming in Green and Duck lakes. She lived on the same road with both sets of immigrant grandparents and many aunts, uncles and cousins, attending a one-room school and National Music Camp before graduating from Schurz High School in Chicago and starting work at Marshall Field's.
Nancy was proud mother of six daughters, Janessa, Alyssa, Ilsa, Carolyn, Erika and Laurel; and grandmother to 17.
She moved to the west coast in the late 1960s, writing letters home from Seattle, San Francisco Bay and California's High Desert and Central Coast areas.
Memorials will take place Feb. 17 hosted by family, and March 31 hosted by Central Coast Friends Meeting (Quakers).
Please call 530-908-2229 or use the online guestbook to leave condolences.
In lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully accepted by the National MS Society (S.Cal/NV Chapter) or Wilshire Community Services.

Missing my sister. We called each other often, sent cards and visited many times over the years.
