Patricia's Story

Text size

Pat Nelson was born on January 26, 1928 to John and Lorraine Prevost in West Branch, Michigan. She passed away in Traverse City on June 13, 2017.

She was a natural born story teller and enjoyed sharing stories of growing up with five brothers and three sisters during the great depression and World War II. She had a strong sense of fun and provided great entertainment and much laughter to those lucky enough to have known and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Nels Albeen Nelson; infant son, Owen Sidney; and all of her siblings. She is survived by her children, Nels (Karen) Nelson of Honor, Michigan; Jennifer (Robert Youngken) Nelson of Seattle, Washington; Lori (John) Rueca of West Palm Beach, Florida; and her dear grandchildren, Christian and Madison Rueca of West Palm Beach, Florida. Pat is also survived by her dear friend, Hayes Tomlinson of Traverse City, numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

Her family wishes to thank the caring and compassionate staff of TenderCare Traverse City and the Hospice Team for the comfort they provided her and her family in her final days.

Pat always said her greatest joy and accomplishment was her family. She will remain deeply loved and desperately missed by her family forever.

Pat's family will have a celebration of her life in July.
