Paul Joseph Burns, 76, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
Paul, or Joe to his friends, was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and is survived by his two daughters, Mary Jo Burns Parks, Julie (Lawrence) McGown; and one son, Paul (Alison) Burns; their mother Jackie; five grandchildren, Thomas (April) Parks, Paul (Jamie) Parks, Aaron (Caitlin) Burns, Amanda Burns, and Carly Burns; as well as four great-grandchildren, Johanna, Landon, Madeline, and Preston.
Paul loved golfing, playing bridge, and following hockey. A tree at the Old Mission Lighthouse was dedicated in 2008 in his honor for hard work and commitment to the Old Mission Peninsula Historical Society. He will be missed by his friends and family.
A memorial visitation will take place at Covell Funeral Home, 232 E. State St. Traverse City, on Wednesday, Feb. 21 from 4:30 p.m. until the service that begins at 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the Chicago Zoological Society, 3300 Golf Road, Brookfield, IL 60513.
