Paula Jean Kemp, of Grawn, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017 at her home while surrounded by her loving family. She was 60 years old. Paula was born on Aug. 8, 1957 in Romulus to William Davis and Mary Kathleen (Baggett) Wiar.
She graduated from Harry S. Truman High School, Taylor, in 1975 and received an associate's degree in business from Kellogg Community College in 1989. She graduated from Cadillac Institute of Cosmetology and was employed at Fowler's Beauty Salon in Cadillac and MasterCuts in Traverse City.
Paula was wed to the love of her life, Daniel Kemp, on Aug. 21, 2002, and they shared 12 years before he preceded her in death in 2014.
She was a loving wife, caregiver, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She enjoyed working in her flower garden, hunting for mushrooms, reveling in the beauty of God's creation and had a soft spot in her heart for all animals. Any warm beach was her favorite place.
She treasured every minute of time spent with family and loved sharing in the lives of her friends. She lit up a room by simply walking into it and brought vibrance and laughter into the lives of all those who knew and loved her. Her compassion for those in need and generous spirit touched many. She will be greatly missed.
Paula is survived by her stepfather, Ivan Kline, of Cadillac; siblings, Gerald Weir, of Taylor, Janet (Don) Harkey, of Hillsdale, Deborah Wiar, of Cadillac, Brenda (Tom) Jolly, of Luther, and Mark (Tonya) Kline, of Tustin; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Daniel.
A funeral service to honor Paula's life will be held at Life Story Funeral Home in Traverse City on Monday, Jan. 8, 2018 beginning at noon, with the Rev. Don Harkey officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. There will be a private family interment service at the North Park Cemetery in Luther at a later date.
