Rachel Frances Ovalle, 19, of Traverse City, passed away unexpectedly Feb. 11, 2018.
She was born July 18, 1998 to Steven Ovalle and Susan Alexander in Methuen, Massachusetts.
Rachel grew up on Old Mission Peninsula where she attended Old Mission Peninsula School from preschool through 5th grade. She loved her Old Mission family and her childhood memories will always be cherished. During that time she began competing in Junior Olympic gymnastics where at the age of 10, she took first place in the state of Michigan. During middle school, she continued to excel both in gymnastics and academically. She was editor in chief of the East Middle School year book and was considered a friend magnet, compassionate and kind to everyone she met. Rachel lit up the room with her infectious smile and loving presence. Her gift of compassion and selflessness came to fruition in the birth of her son and expectations of motherhood. Rachel loved being a mother more than anything she had accomplished in her life. She will be deeply missed.
